With around 29,000 inhabitants, Winterswijk municipality covers an area of over 137 square kilometres. Although the size of the municipality may be somewhat modest, the community is big hearted. They welcome you with open arms.

Shopping in Winterswijk

Winterswijk has a wide and diverse range of shops so you are guaranteed a fun day's shopping! You will find leading clothes shops as well as small boutiques and local delicatessens. In addition, all the bustling shopping streets are connected to the market square, the heart of the town, where you can regularly pause for a bite to eat and a drink.

Opening hours

Shops are open Monday to Saturday, from 08:30 to 18:00. On Monday mornings, most shops are closed.

Shopping Sundays

Every last Sunday of the month is shopping Sunday. Then, shops are open from 12:00 to 17:00.

Visit the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays

Every Wednesday morning and Saturday, you can visit the well-known goods market in the city centre. Fun to visit!

Parking

Prefer to go to Winterswijk by car? You can! No fewer than 1,300 parking spaces are available in and around the town. Parking is free. The car parks at Gerrit Komrij College and Theatre De Storm are spacious and only a 5-minute walk from the town centre.

Settle down on one of the terraces

The cosy and atmospheric city centre immediately invites you to settle down on one of its many terraces. The centrepiece of the market square is a centuries-old and monumental church, Jacobskerk, whose imposing appearance makes it an easy and recognisable point for everyone. Around it, the numerous terraces are set up in spring, summer and autumn.

Prefer slightly quieter surroundings to have your snack and drink? Then stroll past the shopping streets: there are some restaurants there too.
