End the day on a culinary note at one of the following top restaurants
A day out should include one (or more) culinary stops. We have selected the finest spots for every occasion, all within cycling distance of De Twee Bruggen:
Vineyards
Sometimes Winterswijk looks like the France of the Achterhoek... For the region is particularly suitable for wine growing. This is partly due to the combination of the type of soil and the favourable microclimate. So don't forget to visit a vineyard to taste genuine Achterhoek wines:
- Vineyard Hesselink is a family-run vineyard, where you will discover delicious quality wines from Dutch soil. The vineyard offers guided tours and wine tastings.
- Vineyard De Reeborghesch is a sustainable vineyard, working according to the principles of organic farming. It also offers guided tours and wine tastings.
- Vineyard De Hennepe offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Here, grapes are grown on centuries-old ash fields and as naturally as possible with grass, clover and flowers.
Lunch tips
- Bijzonder Gewoon is located in the heart of Winterswijk. The cosy lunchroom Bijzonder Gewoon offers simple and honest dishes made from organic, seasonal and locally produced ingredients.
- VanStreek is a concept that combines catering and retail. Here too, lunch dishes are served with ingredients from -yes- the region. From hearty soups to an extensive lunch board or homemade cakes.
- De Zwaan is a traditional Dutch café, confirmed in a monumental building on the market square. Here you choose from a variety of lunch dishes, including the classic ‘uitsmijter’ and various sandwiches.
- De Revolutie feels like you are staying in Cuba. The Revolution exudes a typical Cuban atmosphere and you can taste it in the dishes: will you go for a light salad, a savoury sandwich or a fine burrito after all?
- Kronenhuis is located in the heart of Winterswijk. It is a warm place to enjoy a delicious lunch. The monumental building exudes rustic charm with its wooden balcony, large fireplace and comfortable seating.
Coffee spots
- Coffee house De Koets provides a classic coffee experience. Located in the city centre, this cosy and homely spot offers a wide selection of coffee, tea and pastries.
- Rosenhaege is a slice of England, but in Winterswijk. Rosenhaege invites you to their Celtic Coffee House - where you have a view of the surrounding British gardens.
- Blend 61 is slightly less classic, but certainly no less delicious! Blend 61 is a contemporary restaurant, in the heart of Winterswijk. The name reflects the philosophy of the kitchen: a mix of flavours, cultures and styles create a unique culinary experience.
Dining tips
- De Schoppe is a cosy and informal restaurant on our holiday park. It is a great place to enjoy a sumptuous dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. Here, too, the chef works mainly with local ingredients!
- LEV. by Mike is a place where you treat yourself to a surprise menu created from the best ingredients of the season. Chef Mike prepares each dish with passion and creativity, making this restaurant a must-visit for foodies.
- The Keunenhuis, a monumental farmhouse, is chef Nel Schellekens' culinary testing ground. Here you can ‘dine with Nel’ on Friday evening, Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon, where she cooks from her cooking altar while her husband Henk takes care of all the glasses.
